If you are on an authentic path and living by soul inspired values it’s very likely you have been involved with groups in which deep sharing takes place. If so, you’ll know that at a certain point the group comes to
gether into a bigger energy than all its constituent parts. The combined intention of the participants, and the depth of sharing, create a field of presence and expanded intelligence from which new insights, wisdom and realisations emerge. Those of us who facilitate transformational work call this unified energy field “the container” and the facilitators and participants “hold the container”. This energetic container is an alchemical vessel in which the transformation takes place.
Within a conscious, intentional group old beliefs and limiting behaviours can be deeply challenged whilst providing a big inspiring energy and a safe space for experimentation. Groups of many kinds have been a vital part of my life for forty years and being part of, what I call deep discovery groups, is wonderfully exciting to me – one of the best things in life. It’s like being on an adventure where you have no idea where you’ll end up but you trust the process. Within such groups it’s deeply nourishing to be witnessed in your power and in your vulnerability. The unpredictability of the group energy can disrupt old limiting patterns and inspire you take new directions. This can make groups a fast track to transformation.
At this time of global turbulence and transformation those of us on a conscious path are called to step into more expansive, more loving, more inspired, more spacious, more flexible and more resilient patterns of the mind and soul. In the process of transformation old patterns that no longer serve us are deconstructed to make space for new more expansive and flexible thoughts, emotions and behaviours. After every group experience in which our hearts have been opened each of us returns to our individual life and to the process of integration. As you know, if this is your path, the process can be very challenging because your old patterns have been shaken up and are being deconstructed and there may be a gap before the new more flexible patterns emerge. This time of deconstruction can feel like chaos, or emptiness, loss or disillusionment. To be the alchemist it’s necessary to sit with the confusion and the pain until the new butterfly self emerges from the chrysalis.
What if you could build a similar energetic, intelligent, expanded container for yourself alone? What if you could become the container, the witness and the contents of the transforming within the container? If you are a meditator then this is what you have been practicing in meditation. But what I’m suggesting is more than meditation.
An inner Soul Sanctuary is an energetic, alchemical container created from your love, your intention to heal and evolve, and your willingness to show up for yourself consistently. Through a process of repeated small choices and simple daily practices you can create an inner space of self-care and self-nurturing which will support you to become stable in a more expanded stage of consciousness.
Your Soul Sanctuary doesn’t replace your need for connection with others but it supports your autonomy and sovereignty. With practice, you will know that this safe, loving space is always within you – even at those times when you are feeling most shaken by your healing process, by interactions with others, or by world events.
You can take your inner Soul Sanctuary with you wherever you go, secure in the knowing that you can choose to connect fully and deeply with yourself and with all the resources that are available to you. Sometimes we forget that we live in an infinite and intelligent universe, we are part of an abundantly generous nature and our hearts are built to overflow with love, if only we connect within.
To Build Your Soul Sanctuary means to commit to a daily practice of connection and remembering:
- Remembering your soul inspired values and renewing your commitment to live from them;
- Remembering who you are at a soul level – a free, creative, loving, sovereign being;
- Remembering to connect – with self, with others, with your heart and nature and cosmos;
- Remembering how to move at will from contracted, fearful states to expanded, loving states;
- Remembering you live in an infinitely inspiring universe with unlimited possibilities;
- Remembering you are part of a highly intelligent, self-regulating; abundantly generous nature;
- Remembering that all life is inter-connected and you have unique gifts and a vital role to play within this inter-connected dance of life;
- Remembering that unconditional love and the experience of wholeness are always available – because that is who you are.
Whether you are engaged in inner healing, creative work, or participating as a sacred activist for Gaia and humanity, developing a Soul Sanctuary practice will help to support and sustain you.
