Consciousness shifts are central to transformation
As the global deathing/birthing process deepens, people all over the world are experiencing an existential crisis. This is a crisis of perception and meaning. When we look at what is happening in the world we may be totally focused on the breakdown of systems, as in war, peak oil, famine, the thawing of the ice fields, the gap between rich and poor, and the extinction of species. In our personal lives, the crisis manifests as rising fuel and food bills, rising temperatures, deepening debt, less nature to play in and enjoy, working longer for less reward, the frustration of not being able to speak to a real person when we need service from the corporate world. Believing this is all there is evokes fear and leads to feelings of powerlessness, rage and depression. We all have our own ways to numb ourselves so we don’t have to feel our fear and despair, but such numbing also robs us of joy, liveliness and motivation: the fuel for living our passion.
Glimpses of a more harmonious, purposeful universe can lead to an awakening of consciousness and a search for a deeper purpose to life. Becoming disillusioned with the ways working and social life are organized, may lead to a longing to break out and find something more satisfying, or to a desire to pursue and express one’s creativity in a more specific way. Thus we may turn away from the life that is limiting our potential, to learn the skills of living our passion.
Consciousness develops through a number of shifts of perception, meaning and behavior; some people call these epiphanies. Such shifts happen instantaneously and reconfigure our perception of reality in a whole new pattern or gestalt. The perceptual shift is accompanied by an energetic shift, as energy is freed from old conditioning and ‘stuck’ forms. We sense a lightness of being, a coming home in some way, and a new feeling of empowerment.
Ah-ha! Looking at human interactions from a different angle, we suddenly see the growing number of individuals and groups who are working to create a positive future, like a host of little green shoots pushing up from the ashes of the old ways. Maybe a new world is possible after all!
Birth is a messy and frequently painful affair. This is a chaotic time which calls out the unlived potential in all of us. The process of becoming Love-in-action: authentic, creatively empowered and globally responsible, is a journey of experiential learning, leading to greater trust and awareness. This process enables the development of the skills and wisdom necessary to be of service to humanity and evolves through a series of transformational shifts.

So well stated,Rose, I would add, but one more element and that is that we must be ready to deliberately cast out our old limiting beliefs and to tell our ‘Excuses to Begone’ as Dr. Dyer wrote, in order to be truly freed from the “old conditioning and stuck forms”.
I believe maintaining focus upon this intention to clear is a prerequisite to embracing The shift, don’t you?
Thanks for your response Christa. I absolutely agree with you, awareness is the first step and then intention and, as you say, keeping a focus on intention is what will make the difference. Clearing out the old isn’t always so easy to do, we have to really want and intend to. Awareness and intention go hand in hand.
