Co-creating a Unified Field of Consciousness
I’m recently back from The Green Gathering1 on the southern border between Wales and England, where I was participating in TrAd Village2 , a group of 70+ people of all ages from a months old baby to octogenarians. We came together in a week long, annual experiment in living the vision of a world where transformational change within ourselves and our systems allows us to adapt and thrive in balance with all life, with Earth.
Tra=transformative Ad= adaptation. It’s a lot to get your head around! I’m learning what it means, as we all are, and the views and experiences I express here are my own and not intended to be representative of the Village. My current understanding is that we are living the questions of how we can adapt creatively to the inevitable collapse of our civilisation and our ecosystem; how we can live contentedly with diminished resources and societal infrastructure; how we can live in alignment with life, with natural and universal laws, working co-operatively with and replenishing rather than further depleting the natural ecosystem; how we can live in kinship with each other, with all people and with all life forms; and how we can do all of this from a place of love, wisdom and compassion, within a global situation of chaos, fragmentation and breakdown.
That’s a lot of learning and unlearning, and these are no easy feats, but I believe we can do it and my experience in the TrAd Village this summer has made me more hopeful and more trusting of human nature. From my point of view, as a practitioner of inner transformation, the evolution of consciousness is the primary ground from which healthy, holistic cultural change emerges. I participated in the Village last year, and this year I experienced a significant shift in openness and creative flow, just as I am experiencing in my wider community. Even though life on our planet is becoming crazier, more dysfunctional and more dangerously life-threatening by the day, there appears at the same time to be an uplifting of consciousness, at least amongst those of us on a conscious path.
This year at TrAd I experienced a unified field of consciousness during much of our time together. This is how one of my favourite authors, Stephen Harrod Buhner, described the unified field:
“ Time itself has changed, as if we were suspended – like the dust motes in the air. There was so much time and it was so slow I could take as long as I needed to sense each and every thing. And what is more I felt companioned. Companioned by everything in that room: the sunlight, the sounds, the smells, the desk, the lamp, the papers and pens, the curtains and chairs, every physical object. Everything had taken on a kind of intelligent awareness and caring and each and everything in that room was gently companioning me in that single, suspended moment in time. I felt part of a living, breathing, intelligent universe, and what is more….I felt wanted by that universe, as if I had come into the arms of my deepest and truest family. I felt at home in a way I never had before.”
I experienced that sense of expanded time, a harmonious creative flow through the group, a sense of belonging, companionship and family, a renewal of meaning, purpose and hope. And I know others did too in their own ways. In a fragmenting and separated world such experiences are transformative and ripple out into our wider communities. There is a feeling of being connected not only with the group but with the Earth, with Universal Intelligence and the evolutionary impulse. I call this more inclusive and expanded consciousness, Whole Mind-Whole World, and this is how I described it in my book of that name.
“Whole Mind-Whole World includes and transcends all previous world views. It is not a belief system nor a new position we can arrive at by way of intellect. It is an inner, subjective and inter-subjective way of knowing, a multi-dimensional intelligence, a vibrant energy field which includes the body, the emotions, the creative mind and the soul. Whole Mind-Whole World embraces our deepest wisdom, recognises shared human suffering and connects us at the heart with all other human and with life itself. It brings a fullness of being, a deep presence and simple contentment. In Whole Mind-Whole World there is nothing missing. We are inspired, on purpose and flowing with the Life-Love-Force.”
I’ve been participating in groups and different communities for most of my adult life and I’ve experienced the Unified Field before, but it has always been a state that has come and gone, like a dream, leaving me bereft and wanting when it disappears. A vital transformational task is to learn how to become stabilised in this as a new level of consciousness which becomes our natural place to live from. This unified consciousness naturally gives rise to experimental action in alignment with life and, when we listen to our wisdom, we are guided to our next steps.
During the pandemic I held weekly virtual groups to explore our personal and collective grief. Using the language of the late, great evolutionary, Barbara Marx Hubbard, we experienced ourselves as “islands of coherence” amidst a sea of chaos. When we met, we often felt battered, bruised, confused and lost and we’d leave two hours later uplifted, with renewed meaning and purpose. I’ve experienced the Unified Field also during spiritual retreats or other powerful gatherings. Now, through the experiments of the TrAd Village, we are intentionally creating and holding a space in which cultural and Earth renewal can emerge from the ashes of outmoded dysfunctional thinking and broken local and global systems. The Unified Field of consciousness is the fertile ground from which right action arises and gives rise to a new, life-affirming culture.
The beautiful, flowing creative energy of our TrAd Village did not emerge on its own, it was the result of a myriad of individual choices and actions. Next time, I will explore some of the factors that made it possible for us to co-create this sense of sanctuary. I hear many people talking about how painful and difficult collapse is going to be. As far as I’m concerned collapse is already well under way in many parts of the world and here in the UK too, and it is heart-breaking. And yet…there is also an opportunity to experience a greater sense of belonging with Life and each other and our beautiful planet. When seen from the point of view of the transformational process, collapse is the inevitable letting go that precedes breakthrough.

Dearest Rose ~ This was a True JoY to read and I am so glad that you experienced all this Magical Connectedness during your TrAd Village time out of time ~ I relate and resonate to all you have written here and feel it is so vital that we ground these experiences deep within our Hearts and the Earth ~ As you say it ripples out to affect all and helps to raise the consciousness of All Beings on this Earth and beyond ~ Thank You for writing this blog and sharing it ~ Keep on Focusing on what we are Collectively CoCreating ~ Being aware of what is happening in the crumbling old paradigm of the outer World is OK so long as it is as an observer sitting on our Eagles perch and simply witnessing without getting pulled into the dramas that are and may continue (for as long as is necessary) to be unfolding. Important to remember that where our attention goes Energy flows so the trick is to focus on what we want rather than what we don’t. So Shine your Light SiStar, Let’s keep our Energy Clean & Clear and lead the way forward from the heart of Love ~ Brightest Blessings ~ Pamela
