Conversation is our Power.
Yesterday I shared my love for the practice of Deep Discovery conversations. Today I’d like to take this a little further.
Throughout history there have been pockets of spiritually evolved souls on Earth but now there are multitudes awakening into more expanded states and stages of consciousness. I believe there is an evolutionary driver behind this collective movement into inner space and the evolutionary impulse directing this movement emanates from Gaia and Cosmos. We are being called to transcend our limitations and step up into the fullness of our potential: to become Whole New Humans.
In the friendships, communities and networks where I find belonging, our conversations are often an attempt to shine the light of higher consciousness onto daily experiences and find the deeper meaning in what appear to be random or painful events. This then extends into an exploration of how consciousness transforms; how individual consciousness mirrors the collective; how we are birthing a new way of living and co-creating on the planet – a new culture, a new perspective, a new worldview; and how this, in turn, contributes to the evolution of our species and to our survival and thrival here on Earth. The evolutionary impulse – life itself – moves through us, and with us, and our task is to remove the obstructions so we can flow with the evolutionary direction of life.
I’ve made a study most of my life of what it means to be whole through my work as a whole person educator, therapist and facilitator, as a poet and a writer, and through my own deep inner journeys. Right now I would say that, although essentially we are always and already whole, remembering and realizing our wholeness means knowing, accepting and integrating every aspect of our human-ness. Knowing ourselves through and through. Our darkness as well as our light. It’s a big and demanding journey.
Many of us are moving forward in synch – a synchronised wave of evolving consciousness flowing through the human mind, heart, hands. Conversation is a powerful vehicle for those of us who are excited and motivated by this process.
The last few weeks have been very intense for me, and it seems for many of us. I follow with interest the messages of Matt Khan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiuKcjeIyjw I know his humorous and somewhat showbiz presentation is off putting to some but his message nearly always speaks directly to my experience and helps me to see the bigger picture of what’s going on. He speaks to those people he calls ‘spiritually sensitive souls’ and if you are reading this you are probably one. He tells how we spiritually sensitive souls together form the ‘first wave of ascension’ and how we are moving into a new dimension of consciousness which is transforming the planet. He prophesied that the end of September this year – a week or so ago – would be a Big Shift.
With all such prophecies I take note and then observe my experience and I’ve noticed that times of collective shift are often uncomfortable – for me anyway. It seems to me that moving into higher and more inclusive states of human being-ness requires us to constantly align and realign with our own authentic, heart-felt truth and with the incoming energies and information from Gaia and Cosmos. In order to align with truth we need to let go of that which is not true and this can lead to periods of disillusionment and disorientation; times when we no longer know who we are when direction and meaning vanish into the air. There are times of grace when doors open and we walk through into new dimensions of inspiration, love and abundance and there are equally times when doors close and I find myself standing alone in the midst of emptiness, feeling lost and half crazed.
These last few weeks have been one of those times. My inner world has been more disturbed than I can remember for a very long time. The last time this happened was when I was going through my first big soul initiation. The sense of disequilibrium has been intense and along with it there’s been a growing sense of helplessness. It feels like a death. It feels like a birth.
In the midst of this experience my dearest soul friend was diagnosed with a life threatening disease. Human fragility, impermanence and death were knocking at the door of my heart. For a while I could find no sanctuary. Many times, and in many situations I reached out for connection only to feel the door closing, leaving me bruised and even more confused. The prospect of being without my dear and irreplaceable friend, coupled with real uncertainties in my own life, and the powerful consciousness shifts shaking the collective, opened me more deeply to the dark side of human nature and the magnitude of our common task to transform consciousness on the planet. I was adrift upon a stormy, lonely sea.
And then, this week I met for conversation with two soul sisters – one in Canada and one in Ireland. My imperilled soul friend is also a member of this group, although he wasn’t present. We held space for each other to explore our responses to the sad news of our friend’s ill health. As we each spoke my being began to relax and expand. The loving presence and complete heart-felt attention of my two companions created a container in which all aspects of self were seen, heard, felt, welcomed and set free. There were no judgments, no competing opinions, no barriers or resistance. Only a deep well of unconditional love, acceptance and compassion. Through our voices we were listening to the voice of humanity, we were knowing and accepting more deeply what it means to be human. The container of our conversation was a soul sanctuary in which the three of us took shelter and drank at the wellspring of authentic wisdom.
By the end of the conversation we were three woman sitting in our goddess power, holding a healing space for ourselves and for our dear soul friend. We were soul weaving – passing the threads of connection between us and sensing new patterns emerging in the fabric of conscious life. With awe and gratitude we intuited and articulated the connections between the vast and timeless experience of soul and the very challenging daily experiences of being human. We had willingly become the hands and eyes and voices of consciousness coming to know more fully the experience of being human on our epic journey to wholeness.
Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh has said “It is possible that the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The next Buddha may take the form of a community, a community practicing understanding and loving kindness, a community practicing mindful living. And the practice can be carried out as a group, as a city, as a nation.”
